Directions to the East End
From Route 322
Follow 322 (Downingtown Pike)
Downingtown Pike becomes Hannum Avenue
Hannum Avenue ends at New Street. Take a right and follow New Street for one block
Turn left onto Market Street
Follow Market Street for approximately 7 blocks. On your right hand side you will see basketball courts. This is the Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center (formerly the West Chester Community Center)
Gather at the lawn to the east of the building
From 202
Exit Paoli Pike. Turn right at bottom of ramp.
Paoli Pike Merges with West Chester Pike and becomes East Gay Street. Get in left hand lane
Turn left at Adams Street. Follow one block.
Turn left on Market Street. The Melton Center in on the right hand side on Market Street.
From Route 100 (Exton)
Take Route 100 South. Take Pottstown Pike Exit.
Follow Pottstown Pike, which becomes High Street. Pass Golf Course on Right.
Turn left onto Market Street (at the Chester County Courthouse)
Follow for five blocks. Arrive at Charles A. Melton Center.
Parking
There are several places to park but we ask that you be considerate of the people who
live in the neighborhood and not use the on-street parking that might be available.
The Charles A. Melton Center has limited parking for guests but will not be able to
accommodate everybody. There are two sites within two blocks of the Melton Center
that have agreed to allow guests to park. Street parking is also available along
parts of Market Street. Please pay attention to signage to avoid ticketing.
Bethel AME Church (located in the 300 Block of East Miner Street) has a parking lot
and the pastor has been gracious enough to allow guests to park for the Town Tour.
From Market Street, turn right onto Adams Street and then right onto Miner Street.
Bethel is on your left. The Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center is two blocks
East from Bethel (located in the 500 block of East Miner Street)
The West Chester Municipal Building (located at the corner of Adams and Gay
Streets) has a parking lot at the rear of the building. From Market Street, turn
left onto Adams Street. The Municipal Building is one block north on the right.
Walk approximately two blocks from the Municipal Building to the Melton Center
by returning to Market Street by way of Adams Street.
